    http://www.gamerzines.com/pc/reviews/risen.html

In fact the whole of a very readable Magazine.

"will warm the heart of a Gothic fan and the final score is 84%."

There is also a detailed preview of Diablo III.

Very little interest around Re. RISEN.

Thanks for the link but that barely qualifies as a preview, let alone a "review" - who wrote this shit, our resident Spammah?

And I could swear I was reading a piece about Gothic 3 except for the
bit stating "during the fist 20 minutes of the game you make a decision
which will shape the entire experience". I'm not complaining, mind you,
I loved G3 to death so a massive expansion pack set in a different
world suits me just fine and is a day one purchase for me.

I've now read it fully myself & indeed it is very shallow & trying to
    please.
More a brief preview...some of the other Reviews included i.e. Diablo III & the Batman
    are worth a look...
Its a downloadable Net Mag Zine thing & its mostly about good look graphics.

A German Mag has given RISEN 86 % ..This & the very low level of
general Net interest bodes not at all well.
Going by the Pics.. its sort of Gothic meets NWNII & does Two Worlds to
    Fable
with a glance to Dark Mister of Mighty Magical Thingy.

Very little interest around Re. RISEN.

That is because the Gothic series is really for adult
gamers who are also fairly intelligent. No way will the
kids buy this game until they "think" that other gamers
like it ... but they won't check that it is US. So then
the bitching begins about how hard the game is, and
how it doesn't work when "the kids" put it to top graphics
on Mommy's PC. My game box is ready to go.

I'll buy it at top price on day # 1 just to support PB, and
hopefully drive Arcania in the weeds, and force Jowood
to go ahead and get the first few patches ready. Oh, and
for those of you looking for a cheap buy, Amazon is
advertising G3:Forsaken Gods at only $10 now.

Also, I won't buy Risen from a web site. Last time, the
shipping cost more than the game, and the local stores
had it in stock before I got my web copy ... and cheaper
    too.

It's on my 'maybe' list - it looks intersting, but I want to try
before I buy, to see how (or if) it runs on my system.

Even better deal is the Gothic Universe at Amazon for $9.50 and it be
combined with other items to get free shipping (for $25+ orders).

The Gothic Universe has Gothic 1, 2 (and its expansion) and 3. Forsaken
Gods isn't a part of it, which probably is a good thing.

First impressions from the good folks over at RPS are very good indeed,
it seems that everyone who's played it so far has liked it - now I'm
even more stoked, specially by the comparisons to G2.

Here are some of the comments:

"For those wondering – it looks like the best Gothic 3 looked but runs
smoother and better than it ever did, even with community patches. I get
the feeling that it is achieving this by having each ‘area’ be smaller
(and blocked in by canyons and other such horizon blocking scenery),
thus less of a burden on the engine. Certainly I came across nothing as
open as the field at the beginning of Gothic 3. I ran around for an
hour and it didn’t crash at all. I’d guess getting the game to run on
the Xbox 360 is responsible for this (both the smaller visuals and the
more stable running. Yay? Boo? Yayboo?). The first thing I did was
punch an ostrich. It died, which I guess means there’s less of the
horrific early-game death than in the previous Gothics. Remember when
they made the bloodflies poisonous? Bastards! So: pretty enough, decent
enough performance and seemingly stable – which is probably enough for
the Gothic faithful. I couldn’t say from this short little try whether
the quests fall into the MMO grinding hell of Gothic 3. I’m crossing my
fingers and buying it tomorrow. Yay games! As for the Gothic
non-faithful: Ostrich punching. I dunno, I don’t really have anything
    else."

"Just played it for 5 hours straight…not a single bug, not a single
crash, and very smooth performance! :D It does feel a LOT like gothic
2…which is a very good thing! The combat is simple but very fun and
requires a little skill (there are some very tough fights…or at least I
thought they were tough). It’s also a really…reallllly….nice looking
game, and as someone else said, it’s about as open as gothic 2, the
forests in particular are really nice to look at. The story also seems
good so far, can see myself having lots of hours of fun with this :D"

"well, if you liked gothic 2, you WILL love risen. i’ve played some 6
hours, and the entire beginning is one big hommage to what they did in
gothic 2. and the closed/tight spaces.. well, they apply if you compare
it to the huge open but empty landscape in g3. again, this is about as
    open as gothic 2. :)"

"This is great :D I played it for an hour, and it certainly feels
special. It’s pretty, stylish and friendly. I love the Mediterranean atmosphere. PB always paid a lot of attention to details, and this one continues the trend – the world feels very authentic. I was instantly
immersed. The controls are fine this time."
