• Keeping the puppy alive

Anyone know how to keep the dogmeat puppy alive and working with you. The brave but foolish dog takes on all foes and most of the time dies. I have
used the Resurrect cheat to get him back, but have trouble getting him to follow me again - don't blame him, I get him killed when he follows...

Tried the "SetEssential <6a775> 1" command, but I get the error below that sounds like I'm missing something.
Scripts:Script 'SysWindowCompileAndRun', line 1:Missing parameter Actor
    Base. Compiled Script not Saved.

Also tried a suggestion to select the puppy and use the "tgm" command, put me into god mode, but not the selected puppy.

When you used the console 'Set Essential' command, did you first click on >the puppy with the mouse to select him, then enter the command?

Yes, but I still get the error, seems like I'm missing some part of the command. I've looked at different examples in the fallout groups, but no
luck in getting it to work. Other commands like unlock, tcl seem to work as they should.

    Try "SetEssential 6a772 1"

Thanks, that seemed to work. Don't know why it didn't work for me the first times that I tried that command in many different ways, I'm sure I put the exact command in the same way at least 3 times or more. The only difference
is I started a new game and put the command in before I found the dog. Also when I was trying the command, I just had a puppy and was trying to use
their codes with the command, maybe they can't be setessential within the game.
Thanks again, it is really fun to watch the dog take on all the evil characters.....
