    Hey all,

I have PC running Windows Vista with the latest patch for Fallout 3
    installed.

After doing a bit of Googling, I've unfortunately discovered that my hair-pulling, tooth-gnashing difficulties are the norm for these
DLC's. I've found countless websites all purporting to offer fixes
    for the issue.

Initially, it was that the Download tab was grayed out and the game
didn't recognize or couldn't access the DLC content. I know that it's
on my computer as I read through one of the online fixes and found it
nestled deep in this directory: C:\Users\{UserNameHere}\*AppData\Local \Microsoft\Xlive\DLC...

This is the page I found this info on:

    http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=959505

It purports to work with all three DLC's. Unfortunately, I'm not the
Vista uber-jockey and cannot see myself being able to follow these
    directions correctly.

However, the new twist on the situation is that when I started the
game just a little while ago, I logged onto LIVE to see if I could
find some information there (BIG mistake, it's a total waste of
time!). Underneath the window, the game was displaying a message
    saying "New content uploading" HOORAY!!

Uh-oh, nope!! Now I'm looking at a game menu where my Download tab is
NOT grayed out, but apparently all my save games are missing and I'd
have to start a new character!! No fucking way am I interested in
    doing that!!

I'm almost to lvl 20 and would like to play this character through,
    flaws and all, before restarting.

Anyone got any tips or weblinks where I can research how to solve this
LITTLE problem? They'd have to be suggestions that a non-super PC
    user could follow!

Again, thanks for all your help!

I had the same problem, downloaded from live and was unable to use the download. The problem was that I installed the game before I was a live
user. When I installed the game, I loaded the game to my own directory and
the main game ran just fine. The downloads seem to load to their own directory(user-id'ed) and did not show up for usage in the main game. The
fix was to move the download files to the games main directory - ( you have
to look at the main fallout web site for the correct directories) - and in-able the downloads from the play screen. Everything works great for me
    now. Hope that helps..

    Hey Mike,
I've read the same fix on several different websites, but am leery to
fiddle with things because I don't want the situation to get any
worse. What did you do exactly to fix the problem?
From what I've seen, you move the files from one directory:
    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data \Microsoft\Xlive\DLC for XP
    to this one:
    C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC
    Is that what you did?
